It’s fun to stay at the……

January 29, 2008 at 1:37 am (Uncategorized)

Y-M-C-A!  Ok, so normally I wouldn’t be so quick to use a Village People reference but who else do you know that sings a song completely devoted to your neighborhood family fun center?  Jess and I were members at another gym across town that was much more flashy than the Y but after realizing that we can actually plan on working out during the week rather than fighting to fit it in, we decided to go back to the place that was closest to home. (and cheaper none the less)  So its up and at ‘em every morning at 6am so that I can be to the gym by 6:30.   All of my musician friends just shuddered in fear at the sound of 6am.  Just so you all know….. life before noon is not as bad as we thought.

Back to Square One!

January 25, 2008 at 11:33 pm (Uncategorized)

Obviously there are a lot of changes that we have gone through since coming off the road. A lot of adjustment to be made.  We finally as of yesterday we feel like we have gotten back to “square one” again.  Most of the time “square one” is referred to as a bad thing, but for us it is a sign that God is honoring what we are doing.  It’s a refreshing and good place to be!

Separation Anxiety

January 24, 2008 at 6:03 am (Uncategorized)

I have to say that the thing that I am missing about the road more than anything else is the relationship that we had with Compassion International.  It was tangible evidence that the gospel was being heard.  People grab the vision of helping a child in need, they sponsor a child and their life is changed.  The effects of it will last longer than any song we put out.  I don’t mean to belittle our efforts in the music department but a lot of times we were chasing a false reality (Transparent but true).  Compassion gave us an opportunity to see the hands and feet of Christ, first hand.  If you haven’t sponsored a child yet……WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?  Go check out their site. (www.compassion.com) Tonight we had a guest missionary to teach the kids.  She had moved to Afghanistan 6 months ago to reach the people for Christ. She is the real deal.  Woman die there daily for even glancing at someone the wrong way. Christians are sought out just to be destroyed at the profession of their faith.  It is not a pretty situation yet people are giving their hearts to Christ left and right.  If this missionary does not go, who will?  If you do not reach out to that lost neighbor, who will?  This has just been on my mind today.  Think about it.

Priorities…

If we could all learn to put them in the proper order we may find that life is even more enjoyable than we expected.

Dreaming in Dallas

January 22, 2008 at 5:19 am (Uncategorized)

As some of you may know, I have transitioned from a unpredictable, vagabond of a gospel singer to a weekly, reliable children’s associate here in Murfreesboro. (Which hereafter shall be referred to as simply the ‘boro.)  It is a great spot to be in.  I will never figure out how I am able to work at the church I love and act wild and crazy with kids, and still get paid to do it.  It’s a dream!

Myself and 3 other guys from church have flown to Dallas, TX for 24 hours to check out some churches comparable to ours and catch a good look at their children’s facilities.  Hopefully this will equip us with ideas on how we can utilize our limited space back at home.  It’s a good problem to have more people than space.  Rather exciting in fact.  It has been a great day and we have seen some impressive things but it is time to go to bed.  But rest assured that I am dreaming of great things for my career, my family and for our life.  This is a great chapter already and it’s only just begun!  huh………………..that sounds like a song.

Stupid Tax

January 19, 2008 at 4:00 pm (Uncategorized)

Have you ever bought something knowing, way deep down inside, that you probably shouldn’t have?  But considering the fact that the salesman has spent the last 24 hours undividedly on your buying experience, your too prideful to listen to that holy spirit hunch that says:  DON’T DO IT!  Oh the bank says your ready but you know that somewhere down the road your gonna pay for this.  You proceed to parade your new liability around, showing it off to all you friends yet all the while it is snickering at you every time you turn your back.  Live and learn is what they say, but why is it in the heat of the moment I forget the learning part??  You eventually find a way to clean up the mess you have made, back to square one.  But not before you pay a healthy amount of stupid tax.  I’m sure I am the only one who has experienced this!

New Beginnings

January 19, 2008 at 5:55 am (Uncategorized)

It has been fun reading all of the cool blogs that have emerged over the last several months.  I always have stayed away from blogging simply because I thought I had nothing to write about but I feel like things have changed.  As many of you know Jessica and I have been in transition over the last several months as we have come off of the road and taken on a life comparable to the majority of the population.  So with that in mind I want to use this blog as an outlet to compare life on the road vs. life at home. There are so many things that I appreciate about being home.  Things like…… not having to worry whether I use plastic or wire hangers for fear that they won’t all fit in the garment bag.  Don’t get me wrong, the road life has its perks, but it definitely is not for everyone.  Thanks for reading, hopefully you’ll come back for more.
